Susan Mander

Susan Mander

Susan Mander is a specialist in illumination engineering, and she leads Massey University’s teaching and research in this area.

Susan holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronic engineering and a master’s in environmental technology and sustainable energy. She is currently working towards a PhD in Engineering, which focuses on measuring light pollution.


With over 20 years of experience, Susan is a Fellow of the Illuminating Engineering Society of Australia and New Zealand and a Member of the IEEE. She serves on lighting-related standards committees, including ISO/TC 274 (Light and Lighting) and the IEC National Committee.
